Cortez Public Library will present “Prince Caspian, Return to Narnia” at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 1. at the Sunflower Theatre.

The annual Four Corners Board of Realtors Parade of Lights will follow the show at 6 p.m.
Hampstead Stage Company will perform the one-hour adaptation of “Prince Caspian” with professional actors who each play multiple roles. Hampstead’s plays focus on “strengthening 21st-century content and skills including empathy, creativity, innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, leadership and responsibility.”
C.S. Lewis’ classic, “Prince Caspian” finds the four Pevensie siblings Lucy, Edmund, Peter, and Susan pulled back into the land of Narnia. There, 1,000 years have passed since they last visited. The children are again enlisted to join the colorful creatures and inhabitants of Narnia in combating an evil villain who prevents the rightful Prince Caspian from ruling the land.
“Through this story, we hope to encourage (students) to stand up for what is right and to help those around them,” the Hampstead website says.
The library will collect disposable diapers for the Piñon Project again this year, and theater patrons are encouraged to bring boxes of diapers to each showing.
The plays are sponsored by the Cortez Public Library, Sunflower Theatre and the Friends of the Cortez Public Library.
The Sunflower Theatre is at 8 E. Main St. in Cortez. For more information, call the library at 970-565-8117.
