Cortez hydroponics store moves to Main Street

Shop sells organic garden supply items
Product specialist Malia McRadu and Bo Black are ready to welcome customers at the new location of the Colorado Hydroponics and Organics, at 725 E. Main St.

Scotty Abrahams and Kathleen Lopiccolo have moved Colorado Hydroponics and Organics to a new location, 725 E. Main St.

The shop sells organic garden supply items, Abrahams said. They also help farmers increase their yields by providing information and advice, especially for those growing food crops for sustenance, he said.

“The market for this is growing,” he said. “We’re trying to capitalize on that experience and interest.”

The new space is larger than their old location, which was behind Notah Dineh Trading Co., Abrahams said. It’s also a more visible location on Main Street, he said.

After three years in business, Abrahams said he’s found a sustainable business that works. The store focuses on the local economy and growers, Abrahams said.

He enjoys helping out small-scale farmers who come in to the store, he said.

“That’s a lot of fun,” Abrahams said.
