Cortez Dispatch Center upgrading network for 911 calls

Officials ask businesses, organizations to schedule test calls
The Cortez Dispatch Center upgraded its 911 call technology on Feb. 16.

Because of an upgrade to its 911 emergency network, the Cortez Dispatch Center is asking businesses and organizations to check that they can still reach 911.

Businesses and organizations that have a phone system with more than one extension are encouraged to talk with their phone system provider and IT staff to ensure their system is configured correctly for 911 calls.

Businesses may call 970-564-4023 to schedule test calls.

According to a news release from the Cortez Communications Center, Colorado is migrating from analog delivery of 911 calls to a digital method called ESInet. The Cortez Dispatch Center made the upgrade Tuesday.
