The Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Market St. in Cortez, will host an opening reception and book signing for Baje Whitethorn’s gallery exhibit from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Whitethorn has illustrated eight children’s books, two of which he also authored. Among them are the Native American legends “Monster Birds,” “Monster Slayer” and “Sika and the Raven.”
His style has earned him the Western Heritage Wrangler Award from the Cowboy Hall of Fame, in addition to other honors. Whitethorn’s artwork can be seen at various museums and art galleries and in private collections across the globe.
The Cultural Center will also offer a watercolor workshop with Whitethorn Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost us $75 per person; to register, call the Cortez Cultural Center at 565-1151.
