The deadline for the Cortez Community Support Grant for 2025 is Friday at 5 p.m., and the city says there is time for eligible businesses to submit an application.

Every year, City Council budgets money from the general fund to “support community organizations that preserve or enrich the health, education, welfare and fitness of the community.”

Eligible communities can receive grants up to $5,000 to support their activities and programs that are accessible to the community and “encourage the development of healthy community organizations that provide programs for citizen welfare and education in the region.”

The funding period is Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025. The city said most of the payments will be mailed to the awarded businesses in January.

The grant application and guidelines to apply can be found online at the city’s website https://www.cortezco.gov/455/Community-Support-Grant-Program or through the City Council button on the city website’s homepage.

The city first announced the grant’s return for 2025 on Aug. 15.

Applications can be submitted to Debbie Speer by sending an email to dspeer@cortezco.gov, through the mail or in person at the City Council building.

Mail can be sent to the City of Cortez, Attn: Debbie Speer, 123 Roger Smith Ave. in Cortez. The applications must be received by the city by 5 p.m. on Friday.

Questions can be directed to Speer at (970) 564-4019 or Wendy Mimiaga at (970) 564-4075.
