The deadline for the annual 2024 City of Cortez Community Support Grant is Friday, Oct. 13, and the Cortez City Council is urging community members to apply before the application period ends.
Each year, the City Council budgets money from the general fund to support community organizations that “preserve or enrich the health, education, welfare and fitness of the community.”
According to the news release, community support organizations may receive grants up to $5,000 to provide support for local activities and programs that are accessible to the Cortez community and encourage the development of healthy community organizations and businesses in the area.
Eligible organizations are those that provide programs for “citizen welfare and education in the region.”
The funding period is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2024, and most payments will be mailed in early January.
The grant application and guidelines can be accessed through the city of Cortez’s official website www.cortezco.gov or through the City Council button on the homepage of the city’s website.
Completed applications can be submitted to Debbie Speer either electronically at dspeer@cortezco.gov or delivered by mail or in person at City Hall.
Applications should be addressed to Debbie Speer, 123 Roger Smith Ave., Cortez, CO 81321. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Oct. 13.
Once the application is successfully received, applicants will be sent an email verifying the status of their grant application.
If an email isn’t received, applicants are encouraged to call Speer at (970) 564-4019, before the deadline.
The news release emphasized that late, incomplete, or faxed applications will not be accepted or considered.
