Cortez Burst Triathlon scheduled for July Fourth

Cortez triathlon has adult and kid races
After finishing the biking portion of the Fourth of July triathlon, Nancy Stefanko hands off to her daughter, Theresa Ambrogia, to finish with recent Cortez Burst Triathlon.

The Cortez Burst Triathlon, which takes place on July Fourth, will feature adult and youth categories.

Races start at the Cortez City Park outdoor pool. The Gromet race for 4-to 5-year-olds scheduled for July 3 has been canceled.

For adults (ages 15 and up) there are two categories. The recreational sprint is a 500-meter swim, 12-mile bike, and 3-mile run. The competitive sprint is a 500-meter swim, 16-mile bike and 4-mile run. The kids’ triathlon has two age groups: Kids ages 6-10 will swim 100 meters, bike 1 mile and run 1 mile; and kids ages 11-14 will swim 300 meters, bike 3 miles and run 1½ miles.
