Cortez Baha’is celebrate holy day

These paper houses created by Lily Ruiz, 9, and her cousin Maricia Espinoza, 10, symbolize how kind actions make our community more radiant. They were part of the local Baha’i Holy Days event Tuesday in Cortez to celebrate the twin birthdays of two founders of the Baha’i faith. The event commemorates the birthdays of the Bab and Baha’u’llah and is the most important Baha’i holiday. The Bab, whose name means “the Gate,” was the herald for Baha’u’llah, who founded the Baha’i Faith. Their relationship is similar to the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus.
