Cortez and Dolores schools have graduation ceremonies tonight

Cortez seniors graduate at Panther Stadium; Dolores ceremony at the high school gym

The 2021 Montezuma-Cortez High School graduation will take place tonight at 6:30 p.m at Panther Stadium, behind the Cortez Middle School.

Weather conditions are expected to be breezy and sunny. There will be 138 seniors graduating.

The event will be broadcast live on the M-CHS YouTube Channel. If there are problems with the channel, the live feed will move to the M-CHS Facebook page. YouTube channel users must subscribe, which is free.

Math teacher Shelley Curtis will be the guest speaker. The valedictorian is Robert Hebert and the salutatorian is Destiny John. Bothv will give speeches.

Senior class officers President Grace Olsen and Vice President Robert Hebert will recognize the retirees of the school district.

Dolores High School commencement is at 6 p.m. at the high school gym.

Superintendent Lis Richard and teacher Brooke Elder will give speeches at the Dolores graduation ceremony. Valedictorian Nina Hufman and salutatorian Justin Brunner also will give speeches. A slide show will be presented about the Dolores Class of 2021, which includes 31 graduates.

After the Dolores graduation, students are invited to Operation Graduation at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds beginning at 10 p.m.
