Cooking with Michele kicks off Amazing Authors 2018 Tour

Michele Morris to give presentation at the Cortez Public Library
Michele Morris, owner of Cooking with Michele, will be at the Cortez Public Library, on Jan. 9 at 6 p.m.

The Amazing Authors Tour, running in libraries in Bayfield, Cortez and Telluride in January, March and May, will be all about food in 2018.

The first event of the tour will be a visit by Michele Morris, of Cooking with Michele, who teaches cooking to adults and children.

According to a news release, Morris is a professional recipe developer, food photographer and trained sommelier. She also leads food and wine tours in Italy.

She’ll be at the Cortez Public Library on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m.

Morris will present the basics of recipe development and food photography, and treat the audience to a cooking demo and samples of one of her recipes, according to a news release.

Morris released her first Colorado Book Award-winning cookbook “Tasting Colorado,” in 2013.

She is the author of a second cookbook, “A Taste of Washington” and two blogs, one devoted to food and wine and one covering her travels.

Morris is also involved in community outreach. She teaches healthy cooking and nutrition to families on “limited budgets” and helps prepare nutritious meals to improve the quality of life for clients of Project Angel Heart, who are coping with life-threatening illness.

In addition, Morris teaches cooking classes to children as part of “Slow Food Denver’s Seed to Table Alliance” for school gardens.

The remaining events in the Amazing Authors Tour 2018 are scheduled for March and May with Katrina Blair, Durango wild food advocate and founder of Turtle Lake Refuge on March 14 and the Denver food journalist and microbrew blogger Ed Sealover on May 9.
