Consider Russ Andrews for CD3

Carbondale resident Russ Andrews has tossed his hat into the ring as a Republican contender against Lauren Boebert. Andrews is not an “ultra-MAGA” follower. He believes Boebert is a “dividing factor.” On Wednesday, according to the Aspen Daily News, Andrews believes Boebert must “move on!” He expanded by describing her as puerile, truculent, divisive and not “terribly informed.”

I have been critical of Boebert. I view myself as a conservative independent. Boebert has set dubious records as a high school dropout that became a member of Congress before passing her GED. She has misinterpreted the role of women in the Holy Bible, along with the role of religion among the Founding Fathers and the establishment of our government. She has proven to be an ignorant loudmouth, with a questionable past, possessing the inability to solve problems due to intolerance and extremist beliefs.

I salute Andrews for entering the race and a offering different perspective in the next primary election.

However, I also encourage all candidates to become very passionate about water. Please recall the ancestral Puebloans of the Four Corners experienced an estimated 30 years of severe drought. I do not want to revisit this history.

Instead of comparing the current administration to Adolph Hitler and his Brown Shirts, let us change the focus to the drought. Let’s minimize the loss of livestock and senior citizens that is common with drought. Let’s conserve water. Kill Russian Olives and Salt Cedar trees.
