Common sense needed for alcohol purchases

Several area stores are requiring proof of age to purchase alcohol beverages, most in fact. Some can determine for themselves if you are over 21. I am 72, and they don’t ask for ID.

My form of picture ID is my retired military identification. Recently, I have been refused service when presenting this ID. The state of Colorado website says this form of ID is acceptable.

I spent 21 years serving this country. I am tired of these establishments treating me like I am some teenager trying to illegally purchase alcohol. I honorably served my country. I am not a criminal. I look like I am 72 years old. I only ask that these establishments show me and other obviously mature adults some respect.

One other issue. Stop blaming the state for this. The state only requires that you verify that an individual is 21 or over. That does not include scanning ID. If you can’t tell if a person is of age just by looking at them, get a pair of glasses.
