City of Cortez receives grant for invasive tree removal

Great Outdoors Colorado awarded the city of Cortez with a $28,350 grant to remove the invasive tamarisk and Russian olive trees from three open-space areas.

A Southwest Conservation Corps-Four Corners crew will provide the personnel to complete removals across 186 total acres.

This grant is part of GOCO’s conservation service corps program, a partnership between GOCO and the Colorado Youth Corps Association. The program funds the employment of conservation service corps for outdoor recreation and natural resource stewardship projects.
