The city of Cortez’s contractor, Four Corners Materials, will close Montezuma Avenue to east-west traffic at the Mildred Road Intersection.
Montezuma Avenue, from Mildred Road West to Park Street and East to Roger Smith Avenue, will be closed during reconstruction of Montezuma Avenue. Mildred Road will not be closed during this time. Construction will take approximately one month and Montezuma Avenue will reopen prior to school starting.
Sidewalks and walking trails around the parks will remain open, except for the immediate work area on any given day. Those areas affected will be blocked off with either fencing or cone-type warnings; people may walk around on the grass to the other side of the closure.
Mildred Road and Park Street will both be open so people can cross Montezuma Avenue going north and south.
