The Cortez Recreation Center is hosting a drop-in in Splooshball event tonight from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. for children ages eight to 10. From 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m., a water polo introduction will be held for children ages 11 to 13.

The Rec Center described the event as “25% water polo and 75% fun.”

This water polo series, which the Rec Center titled “Splish, Splash, Pass,” will also be held Friday, Jan. 3 and Friday, Jan. 10.

The Splooshball portion will help young children learn the fundamentals of water polo through the lens of fun, while the introduction side for older children will focus more on skills and strengthening their swimming ability in deeper water.

“These fun events will help to build our future lifeguards, swim teams, athletes and emergency responders while allowing kids to have a fun time with friends,” representatives from the Rec Center said.

Registration is not require to attend, and children in the specified ages are invited to come try out for the sport. The Rec Center’s daily pass fee, membership or punch pass is required for entry.
