‘Check pockets’ for winning ticket

On Monday, Feb. 5, someone walked into the Huck Finn Exxon on the corner of C.R. 250 and C.R. 240 and bought a Powerball ticket. The jackpot that night was $747,000,000, and whether that person bought one ticket or several, apparently, we’ll never know.

Someone in the country did hit all five numbers and the Powerball, and won the jackpot. Those numbers were 5-11-22-23-69 and the Powerball was seven. Two people in Colorado hit four numbers and the Powerball, but chose not to play the Powerplay option.

Those tickets were each worth $50,000. One of those tickets was sold at Huck Finn. By tomorrow, it will be 180 days since the drawing and the $50,000 will revert back to the Colorado Lottery as unclaimed winnings. We all know Durango is affluent and for many, $50,000 is chump change, right? Check your pockets, wallets, purses and glove boxes. Good hunting.
