Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center and Museum will hold fall educational activities with a variety of tours and presentations.

Docent Tours

10:30 a.m. Tuesdays: The Big Picture. Join Tom Hayden to learn about the “Big Picture” of the ancestral Puebloan occupation in the Four Corners.

10 a.m. Wednesdays: Roving Archaeologist at the Museum with Jim Colleran.

3:30 p.m. Fridays: Ancient Puebloans: Magicians of the Great Sage Plain. Tour the Main Gallery with Jim Arndt and discuss how the ancient Puebloans’ adaptability and ingenuity helped sustain them for thousands of years.

Curation Tours

2 p.m. Thursdays: Behind the Scenes Collections Tour. Explore the collections area, home to nearly 4 million artifacts. To reserve a tour space, call 882-5622. Participants must be age 12 or older.

Interpretive Tours

11 a.m. Saturdays: Connections to the Past and Present. Join Amala Posey-Monk for a program that explores the cultural landscape of the Great Sage Plain and learn about the past and present on the national monument.

1 p.m. Sundays: Ask a Ranger. Jennifer Frost will explore various topics of interest. Arrive early to help determine the topic.

All programs listed end Oct. 24. A $3 admission fee will be assessed from March to October; ages 17 and younger are free. For more information, call 882-5600.
