‘Candidates wrapping themselves in flag’

I read with interest the The Durango Herald’s article on Friday about the forum for Republican candidates for the 3rd Congressional District. Of the candidates, Lew Webb seems to be the one of the most vociferous Donald Trump/Lauren Boebert wannabes.

He said the “government is corrupt” and promised to “pick a fight – a big one” and “not reach across the aisle or compromise.”

This is exactly what the voters do not need.

I believe we have all had enough of this tired, negative, do-nothing, headline-grabbing garbage. How about simply working for the benefit of all the voters in CD-3 and doing something positive for a change?

Webb’s roadside signs proclaim him to be a “a common-sense Patriot.” I cannot find anywhere in Webb’s background information where he served his country in the military.

As a proud Vietnam-era Marine Corp veteran whose family members have served for four generations, I am sick and tired of candidates wrapping themselves in the flag and proclaiming that they are patriots.

When it really counts, where the heck was their patriotism?

Perhaps the same place as Donald “Commander Bone Spurs” Trump?
