Bulldogs lose to Norwood

For six straight games, the Dove Creek Bulldogs team was dominant. So dominant, in fact, that some might have wondered whether the team would ever lose.

Then came a Friday, Oct. 18, road matchup against the Norwood Mavericks, and, unfortunately for the Bulldogs, things did not go well.

Seemingly stunned by a balanced Norwood attack, the Bulldogs fell behind 6-0 early, trailed 28-14 at halftime and eventually lost 56-28. With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 6-2 for the season, while the Mavericks improved to 7-1 with the victory.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was sophomore quarterback Jordan Ernst, who completed 13 of his 28 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns.

On the receiving end of one of those touchdowns was senior receiver Nick Jones, who brought down five catches for 138 yards.

Surprisingly, Bulldogs junior running back Chance Randolph was held mostly in check, rushing 20 times for 84 yards and no touchdowns. Unlike many games this season, Randolph was unable to break free for the long touchdown runs for which he has become known.

On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Case Boughman was especially impressive, registering 16 tackles to lead the Bulldogs.

Also playing well on the defensive side of the ball was senior Dillon Daves, who had one sack and 12 tackles.
