Brice presents an American songbook

Singer plans songs by Porter, Gershwin
Brice

The Sunflower Theatre presents “With a Song in My Heart,” featuring singer Linda Brice, accompanied by Lee Bartley on piano and Spencer Church on bass, on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for reception before the show at Main and Market Street in Cortez.

Brice will be singing gems by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Rogers & Hart, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern and Harold Arlen, our thoroughly American but internationally unsung composers.

Brice grew up in West Los Angeles, in the middle of the entertainment business, and has been singing her entire life and professionally since her teens. She holds a master’s degree in vocal performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she spent nine years immersed in classical vocal training, and did doctoral studies at UCLA in systematic musicology. She holds certificates in French language and French art song interpretation from the Institute Internationale d’été de Nice. Her mentors and teachers included some of the greatest artists and pedagogues of the 20th century, including opera great Eileen Farrell, who as the first “crossover” singer of her generation, was equally at home in all popular vocal styles.

General admission tickets are $35 for main floor seating and $45 for balcony seating and include two beverages of choice at the open bar cocktail reception starting at 6:30. Tickets can be purchased at www.sunflowertheatre.org or by calling 970-516-1818.
