Representative Lauren Boebert’s campaign has distributed large banners with her photo and the word “Freedom” in bold letters. Yet, I fail to see how Boebert or her conservative peers represent freedom. In a country where freedom rings true, women would be free to make their own choices about health care, including abortion. LGBTQ people would be free to express themselves without malice.
Curious individuals would be free to explore the depths of their minds by using psychedelics, such as mushrooms or LSD, both illegal for no good reason. Surprisingly, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is supportive of legalization.
It seems to me that conservatives only want freedom for white Christians. Everyone else is free to be like them or not free at all. America has a problem - conservatives have lost their perspective. Skewed even before Trump, Republicans used to stand for individual liberty and limited government. Not anymore.
Freedom is understood as either having the ability to act or change without constraint or to possess the power and resources to fulfill one’s purpose. Source: Wikipedia
My definition of freedom is a condition where you can believe and act as you wish, and I am free to do as I wish. I’m white and admit to having lived a privileged life, but I’m not free to do as I wish. We are repressed by the limited beliefs of those who claim to support freedom. Lauren Boebert is among those.
