The body of Jeremiah Enriquez Villarreal, 22, a Pagosa Springs man whose family reported him missing Sunday, was located about 11:55 a.m. Tuesday in Lake Pagosa, according to a Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Someone found Villarreal’s cellphone beside the lake on Sunday, which prompted the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office to call in resources to search the lake, according to the Sheriff’s office. The body showed no obvious signs as to cause of death. An autopsy was being performed Wednesday.

The body was recovered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife Marine Evidence Recovery Team. Next of kin has been notified.

Villarreal was last seen alive Saturday night at the Breakroom, located at 2045 Eagle Drive in Pagosa Springs, then again in the early hours of Sunday morning at Club Wyndham Pagosa condominiums.

The Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from CBI, which now leads the investigation. No further information was being made available.

Lake Pagosa is located north of U.S. Highway 160 and along County Road 600 about 1½ miles behind the City Market in Pagosa Springs.

Anyone with information who can assist the Sheriff’s Office with its investigation is asked to call (970) 731-2160.
