Law enforcement recovered a body in Arizona on Friday matching the description of a 27-year-old Farmington woman who went missing more than a month ago, according to a news release from San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in New Mexico.
Deputies with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office found a body of a woman wearing clothes matching what Sasha Krause was thought to be wearing at the time of her disappearance on Jan. 18.
Jayme Harcrow, a spokeswoman with San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, declined to offer information about suspected foul play and said more details would be released pending an autopsy scheduled for Monday to determine the identity of the body and a cause of death.
Krause’s disappearance has been suspicious from the start, Harcrow said. She was last seen leaving her home near the Farmington Mennonite Church around 8 p.m. Law enforcement got a call about Krause’s disappearance around 3 a.m. the next day.
Detectives found Krause’s vehicle parked at the church, the original news release said. Objects Krause would have taken with her under normal circumstances if she had left willingly were found in her house.
Thousands of people in social media groups have been “spreading rumors” about Krause’s disappearance, Harcrow said.
Detectives with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office have traveled to Coconino County, Arizona, to investigate, she said.
