Boat ramps will open at McPhee Reservoir April 21 and May 1

A pontoon boat docks at the McPhee Reservoir boat ramp. The ramp at McPhee will open Friday, April 21.
McPhee ramp opens first

The San Juan National Forest’s Dolores Ranger District will open access to McPhee Reservoir on Friday, April 21, for motorized boating.

Operational hours for the main McPhee boat ramp are:

  • Opening day to April 30: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • May 1 - Sept. 19: 6 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Sept. 20 - Oct. 31: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Operational hours for the House Creek boat ramp are:

May 1 - Oct. 1: 6 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday - Monday.

A current boat registration is required to launch a vessel on the reservoir. Registration information can be found at Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s website. Aquatic Nuisance Species inspectors will be on-site to conduct prelaunch inspections of trailered and motorized boats launching on to the reservoir to help stop the spread of zebra or quagga mussels and other invasive species.

Boaters who need a full inspection and decontamination are urged to visit the lake on a weekday when the reservoir is less busy. Boaters who have tags from last year’s inspections on McPhee will be able to enter the lake quicker than boaters who need inspections.
