Bluejays volleyball team finishes week 1-2

Mancos defeats Telluride, loses to Ridgway and Nucla

After opening last week with a victory, things fell apart for the Mancos High School volleyball team.

Playing on the road against Telluride on Sept. 30, the Bluejays won 25-14, 21-25, 25-13, 25-22.

Morgan Lincoln led Mancos with nine kills. Courtney Colyer had three blocks, Jessica Willburn had 31 digs, and Jessica Gutierrez had 28 assists.

Playing its second match of the week at home against Ridgway on Oct. 3, the Bluejays were soundly defeated, losing 25-22, 25-16, 25-19.

Taryn Gordanier and Colyer finished with eight kills each, Wilburn had 32 digs, and Gutierrez had 22 assists.

Wrapping up its week on the road against Nucla on Oct. 4, Mancos lost 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.

Colyer led the Bluejays with 9 kills, Willburn had 30 digs and Gutierrez had 14 assists.

With their record now at 9-5 on the season pending an Oct. 7 home matchup against Dolores, the Bluejays will next play at home against Ignacio on Oct. 9.
