A local group is organizing a community “Blessing of the Dolores Schools” to take place 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Central Avenue and 12th Street in Dolores.
The blessing is for the students, teachers, parents, and administrators. “We will be praying for an excellent year of learning as well as for the safety of everyone at the Dolores Schools throughout the school year,” said Rev. Rick Carpenter, of the Dolores United Methodist Church, one of the organizers of the event.
“Everyone is welcome to join us, regardless of church affiliation, or even if they don’t believe in churches. We want to gather a group of people together who care about our community’s kids and schools,” he said.
Individual blessings will be offered each child or teenager who is there.
