Haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet? Not to worry! This Black Friday, boutiques and other retailers in Cortez are offering holiday sales to kick start the Christmas shopping season.
From chains like Walmart, IFA and Big R to locally owned boutiques like Love on a Hanger, The Station and Say Yes Bridal and Boutique Clothing Store, there will be something offered for everyone.
Love on a Hanger’s Black Friday sale is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and was described by Tiffani Randall as the store’s biggest sale of the year.
“Something huge is coming your way, and you won’t want to miss it,” Randall said in a Facebook post. “Deals so good, you’ll be running for them.”
Say Yes Bridal and Boutique Clothing Store will hold a Black Friday sale as well, which was described as “the biggest blowout sale of the year.”
The store will have music, food and drinks, discounts and free gifts, offering up to 75% off in-store items. The store also noted they will be offering door prizes and gift wrapping.
The Station’s Black Friday event will be is biggest sale of the year, with doors opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m.
The store is offering 20% off storewide (with some exclusions) and will offer a free gift with purchase. Items that are already on sale will be marked down an additional 25%, making them 50% to 75% off.
These local boutiques will also be participating in Small Business Saturday, along with Patina Trails Mercantile, Merriweather Home + Market and Bronze Bliss. Those who visit all six participating small businesses and get their “passport” stamped at each location will be entered to win gift basket valued at $300.
IFA’s Black Friday sale will start at 7 a.m. Friday in store and online. The sale will extend to Saturday as well.
“We look forward to seeing you with sleigh bells on,” the store said.
Big R’s sale will start on Tuesday and will run through Monday, Dec. 2, and Walmart will have Black Friday deals until Sunday, Dec. 1. Their sales started Monday.
While out shopping, be sure to be on the lookout for decorated wreaths scattered around businesses in Cortez and Montezuma County. There are 50 wreaths in total.
To participate in the annual Festival of Wreath’s scavenger hunt, free “passports” must be acquired from the Colorado Welcome Center or the LoQuiz app must be downloaded. Once the LoQuiz app is downloaded, scan the QR code provided by the Cortez Retail Enhancement Association to get access to the right page.
The more wreaths found, the greater the chance of winning up to $1,000 in Cortez Cash. Each participating wreath has a unique code to be put in the passport or entered into the app.
The wreath scavenger hunt started on Monday and will go until Sunday, Dec. 8. All passports must be turned in to the Colorado Welcome Center by the end of the day on Dec. 8. All entries in the app will automatically be entered on Dec. 8.
