The county assessor staff left a surprise birthday present for their boss, Mark Vanderpool, by wrapping everything in his office with aluminum foil Thursday, Sept. 26, after work. All the pens, pencils, books and furniture were individually wrapped using six rolls of foil. Vanderpool turned 63 on Friday.
