Bears host Coal Ridge

Season-opener is no scrimmage
Trusler

Zero week is over.

Last Friday, the Dolores Bears hosted the Dove Creek Bulldogs in a friendly scrimmage that allowed both teams to get a final run in before their first games this week.

While the scrimmage allowed for Dolores head coach Chris Trusler to note areas that need improvement, he wants to ensure that his players amp it this week. Going into their first game, Trusler wants the Bears at full speed, not scrimmage speed.

"The big thing we've got to work on is our aggression," Trusler said. "We've got to want it more than Coal Ridge this week."

Trusler and the Bears have been working on correcting minor aspects this week, but he has also stressed conditioning.

"They're a much bigger school," he said. "So they're going to have more guys on the sideline to give breaks."

The Bears will spend the week gearing up for their first game. Then, on Friday, Sept. 4, they will host Coal Ridge with kickoff at 7 p.m.
