Barthel, Spangler continue dominance at Aztec Speedway

Racing season has four live dates before closing Oct. 5

AZTEC – Aztec Speedway returned to action over the weekend with the SouthWest Midgets joining the card on Saturday night as the track turns the corner toward the final weekends of the season.

Friday night, Allen Bradley took the win over Traci Bradley and Jeremy Bradley in the Stock Car division. In the Northern SportMods featured event, Waylon Hale took the win over Keelan Matthews, Tracy Greenwood and Devin Roquemore.

Hunter Ferrell reached the checkered flag in the Hobby Stock Class main event, followed by Kyler Duggins and Louis Valencia. In the Dwarf/Modlite division, Rafe O’Brien took the win over Clay Goben, Blaine Olson, Terry Christensen and James Goben.

Katie Barthel collected her 30th career victory in the Sport Compacts, followed by Ted Neergaard, Clayton Tillia and Adrian Bradd.

In the Friday night main event, the Modifieds were the last race of the night with Julian Garcia Sr. sneaking passed Jackson Harpole and Jerry Harpole Jr. to take the win.

Saturday night, Jeremy Bradley reversed his fortunes from the night before, earning the win in the Stock Cars main event followed by Jay Kibel, Allen Bradley and Traci Bradley. In the Northern SportMod featured race, Camron Spangler collected his 41st career win over his dad, Aaron Spangler. That duo was followed by Waylon Hale, Keelan Matthews and Abby Harpole.

In the Hobby Stocks, it was Kyler Duggins who took the checkered flag followed by Hunter Ferrell, Evan Ray, Louis Valencia and Michael Phay. Shane DeVilbiss took the win in the Dwarf/Modlite division followed by Joe Esquibel, Blaine Olson, Clay Goben and Terry Christensen.

The Southwest Eco Tech joined the Saturday night card with a family podium, with Chloe High getting the win over Nathan and Tyler High, Ricky Kenney Jr and Gary DeWitt.

In the Sport Compacts, Katie Barthel earned the win and a sweep of the weekend with a win over Clayton Tillia, Alfred Hicks, Ted Neergaard and Adrain Bradd.

And it was Jerry Harpole Jr. who scored a win in Saturday’s Modifieds feature, followed by Jackson Harpole and Julian Garcia Sr.

Aztec Speedway returns to action Friday Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14 for another weekend of dirt track racing. The 2024 live season at Aztec Speedway wraps up on Saturday, Oct. 5.
