‘Bad things happen when God sidelined’

Terry Tempest Williams, keynote speaker at the Four Corners Climate Summit at Fort Lewis College, said that God is not welcome at the big people’s table for a climate discussion.

Tempest Williams said, “We have to find something more reliable than God.”

She isn’t the first to express such a statement. It seems that Satan himself made a similar pronouncement in the book of Isaiah, “I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will ascend above the tops of the clouds.“

If anything is to be learned from the still smoldering rubble of the 20th century, it’s this: Bad things happen when God is sidelined. Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, etc., removed God from the conversation and plus or minus 75 million deaths ensued.

Let’s not make that same mistake again. Let’s invite to the table the One who created the climate and maintains it by His providence.
