Artisans of Mancos celebrates new artists

Reception held at first Grand Summer Nights event

Artisans of Mancos celebrated the start of Mancos Grand Summer Nights with a reception for two new artists joining the cooperative.

Alex Bond is a blacksmith and wood turner who uses nature as inspiration in his artwork, which features a variety of materials. Aileen McAlister is an oil and acrylic painter who focuses on Western landscapes in her works.

As a cooperative art gallery, the artists take turns working shifts and collectively managing the site.

This was the season’s first Grand Summer Nights event, which features food, music, and more.

The next Grand Summer Night is set for June 15, when the art cooperative will host a reception for another artist, Lesya Krachnovia, in addition to a fashion show by fellow artist Kat Berner.
