A 60-year-old Colorado man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Pagosa Springs man whose skeletal remains were found last year in a remote area of La Plata County.
Glen Canyon Lee Hunt, formerly of Archuleta County, is suspected of killing Michael Kroll, formally of Joplin, Missouri, according to a news release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Hunt was taken into custody Friday morning in Kit Carson County on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to the release. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
Kroll, 41, was reported missing Oct. 19, 2021, from the Pagosa Springs area. His remains were found by hikers on Sept. 25, 2022, in the area of Middle Mountain Road northeast of Vallecito Reservoir. The remains were examined by a Fort Lewis College professor and dean of anthropology who coordinates forensic studies.
The case was being investigated by the CBI and Pagosa Springs Police Department.
No further information was released Friday.
