The American Ballet Theatre Studio Company is coming to Henderson Fine Arts Performance Hall in Farmington on March 16 at 8 p.m.
ABT Studio Company, the junior company of American Ballet Theatre, is comprised of 12 to 18 rising stars ages 16-20.
Serving as an ambassador for American Ballet Theatre, the Studio Company tours the world in venues large and small. In recent years, they have performed in cities such as London, Athens, Manila, and St. Petersburg, Russia.
Madison Brown, Finnian Carmeci, Kayke Carvalho, YeonSeo Choi, Kyra Coco, Vince Pelegrin, Sylvie Squires, Alejandro Valera Outlaw are ABT Studio Company Dancers for the 2022-23 season.
ABT Studio Company prepares outstanding young dancers, who hail from around the globe, to enter American Ballet Theatre or other leading ballet companies worldwide. Nearly 80% of current dancers in American Ballet Theatre are alumni of ABT Studio Company, including 13 soloists and nine principal dancers – among them the renowned Misty Copeland and Isabella Boylston. The renowned David Hallberg, the first American to become a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet, also came up through the company.
Copeland created the Spanish Dance in Ratmansky’s “The Nutcracker,” the “Fairy Fleur de Farine” (wheat flower) in Ratmansky’s “The Sleeping Beauty,” His Loss in “AfterEffect” and roles in “Afterite.”
Hallberg has been a guest artist with many companies including the Mariinsky Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and the Kyiv Ballet. He has danced at galas throughout the world from Japan to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
Boylston won the 2009 Princess Grace Award and was nominated for the 2010 Prix Benois de la Danse. In 2011, she received the Clive Barnes Award. She was the recipient of the 2014 Annenberg Fellowship.
ABT Studio Company dancers will perform masterworks of the classical and neoclassical canons, alongside contemporary and newly created works. A diverse group of choreographers are commissioned to create new, custom pieces for the dancers each season.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, military and employees and $15 for students. Tickets are available online, at the San Juan College Bookstore, as well as in person at the door the evening of the performance.
