I’m constantly amazed by people who move here and rave about the scenery. Have you never been somewhere else? And just went “wow?”
I lived in Los Angeles for a while too, and it is a big city. But the cultural options, the diversity of people and cuisines, and the amazing scenery of the ocean and the canyons, makes it one of my favorites.
I remember being in South Carolina in the mid-1990s, and looking at the water and beautiful hills and thinking, what a beautiful and stunning place.
I went to Minnesota, and spent one of the most beautiful and stunning winters I’d ever seen there. Was it colder than anywhere else? Not really. The parks were green and more beautiful than anything I’ve ever seen in sad, brown Colorado.
I even lived in North Carolina for quite a while. The beautiful rivers and swamps with kudzu gave it a lush feeling.
Later, I moved to the profound deserts of southern Idaho. It was sometimes hot, but the days and the amazing canyons and deserts were stunning.
I traveled across the Dakotas and Wyoming occasionally. Their mountains and hills and occasional wind and cold are well worth the trips. In each place, there were great people and a few idiots.
The longer I live here and see my elderly relatives see what a travesty this place has become, makes me wonder why they hate everything else without having spent any time there. Same goes for everybody else.
