There will be different hours for traffic delays on U.S. Highway 160 between Mancos and the Montezuma/La Plata county lines, the Colorado Department of Transportation announced Monday.
New hours of construction run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. There will also be some work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The changes actually started last weekend.
Beginning Oct. 1, construction-related delays during the week will run until 4 p.m. and could start an hour later in the morning as daylight hours dwindle.
Originally no traffic was to be affected on weekends.
The project, which involves paving, adding culverts, and widening the road shoulders, is supposed to be complete by Nov. 23.
CDOT spokesperson Nancy Shanks said that with a dropoff in tourists, the state agency is allowing the contractor to work on weekends, but doesnt want to impact school-related traffic in the afternoons.
