Resurfacing will continue on Highway 160 east of Mancos, ,moving into the bridge rehabilitation phase. Starting today (August 21), work on the bridge over the Mancos River begins, on the east side of town. During the bridge rehabilitation, one lane across the bridge will be closed 24/7 to enable crews to complete asphalt, curb, and rail work.
Highway resurfacing will involve a mill and fill operation, in which crews mill off the top two inches of asphalt to remove the damaged/cracked surface.
During bridge rehabilitation from August through October 9, a single lane across the bridge will be closed 24/7. In order to minimize the impacts to schools and local businesses during this full-time lane closure, a detour for eastbound traffic onto Highway 160 Business Route (Grand Avenue) will only be in effect during nighttime hours and on weekends while there is no work underway. Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., westbound single-lane, alternating traffic will be controlled by flaggers on US 160 across the bridge. Eastbound traffic will use the detour, Monday through Friday, from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.
