I’m so sorry that Danny Giannone (of the Cortez Planning and Zoning Board) has to look at our metal carports that us poor folks have put up (Journal, Aug. 4) to protect our vehicles because he sees them as cheap and unpleasant to look at.
I agree that some look out of place, but metal carports are not cheap and don’t all look bad.
Why don’t you people get off your chairs and out of your air-conditioned offices to travel around a little bit to see who is installing cheap, unsightly carports without permits. You can’t build a carport in one day, so I know you would have time to look.
You have a job to do, so try doing it; then the cheap, metal carports won’t be so unpleasant to look at.
I have one at my home on Cottonwood St. and yes, I did have a permit. I can show you seven or eight within a two block radius that really don’t disgrace the neighborhood too badly.
I feel you were very unprofessional to discuss this matter in the manner you did.
