Mrs. Taylor Woman of the Year

Cecile Taylor of Dolores was selected by the Business and Professional Women’s Club to receive their “Woman of the Year” award. In 1945 Cecile taught school for one year northwest of Dove Creek. In 1946 she opened the first telephone office in Dove Creek. She also worked for the Army as an aircraft inspector. Cecile and Merton Taylor were married and have made their home in Dolores running Taylor Hardware.

Bounced checks

Paychecks to 500 teachers and school employees were bounced last week in Chinle. Lawmakers are seeking a solution to the financial troubles at the Navajo School.

Cattle injured

At least three more cattle mutilations have occurred in the region over the last few weeks, two in the Glade and one near Egnar.

Homemakers club

A young homemakers club is being formed in Montezuma County. Learning experiences will include creative cooking and baking, tips on gardening, needlework, making toys, the metric system, and homemade beauty aids,

New flag

The Town of Dolores will have a new flag flying from their flagpole through the Bicentennial efforts. The flag will be unique in that it will have a picture of the Galloping Goose on it.
