Community health clinic opens in Dove Creek
The Grand Opening of the Community health Clinic in Dover Creek will be held November 7 and 8. The clinic is a new concept in rural health care and is staffed by nurse practitioners under the auspices of the National Health Corp. A grant from the Boettcher Foundation has been received to help with the operating expenses for the first year. Fundraising activities to equip the clinic included a spaghetti dinner, country auction, coupon sales, and the Grange Carnival. The health clinic is an example of what people can accomplish when they pitch in and work together.
Escalante expedition seeking help
A forester, botanist, geologist, and an anthropologist are presently being sought to ride with the Dominguez-Escalante Bicentennial expedition scheduled to leave Sante Fe July 29 and return to Sante Fe the last week of Nov. 1976. Aside from spending over five months trekking across some of the most varied and picturesque terrain in North America, the original exploration is unique in American history in that not a drop of blood was shed along the entire route by either white man or American Indian although several tribes were encountered. The exploration was mapped by cartographer Miera y Panchero and formed the basis for Spain’s claim to the land. The expedition of 1776 ranks among the greatest in the history of the American West.
