Krystyn Harris to Play Sunflower Theatre April 4
Kristyn Harris will perform April 4 at The Sunflower Theatre in Cortez.

Western Music Association Female Artist of the Year in 2014 Kristyn Harris will play at the Sunflower Theatre April 4 at 7 p.m.

The theater kicks off April with Harris, a western and western swing performer from Collin County Texas.

Harris, 21, has performed at the Southwest Cowboy Church in Cortez. She is known for her vocals, rhythm guitar style, songwriting, yodeling and stage presence. In 2014 she became the youngest WMA female performer of the year, and is the reigning Academy of Western Artists Western Female Performer of the Year.

Harris started playing at 14 years old, quickly finding her passion in swing chordsmanship, western lyric and melodies, and ranching-inspired themes.

Doors and cash bar open at 6:15. Tickets are available at SunflowerTheatre.org. The Sunflower Theatre is at Main and Market streets in Cortez. Lynn B. Lewis of Mancos will be the opening act. "KSJD has a long tradition of playing and promoting western and western swing music," says Jeff Pope, executive director of KSJD and the theater. "Barb Richhart, 'Your Western Belle' has been hosting Cow Trails on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. for more than a decade, bringing life to traditional music of the Western United States, so it was a natural fit to ask Kristyn to come back to Cortez."
