I get the fact that the Journal wants Steve Nowlin to win the primary election. That was clear in your editorial (Journal, June 6). However, if it was your intention to inform your readers, then you only gave them half the story.
You dutifully listed all of Sheriff Spruell’s troubles and scars, and then listed all of Nowlin’s qualities, and you stopped there. Spruell’s accomplishments and his contributions to Montezuma county outweigh any of his troubles.
You could have mentioned the thousands of dollars he saved the county on vehicles, the effectiveness he has introduced in law enforcement, his passionate committment to the community and his support for constitutional rights. Sheriff Spruell is a good man and a good sheriff and deserves our continued support.
