The Emmy Award winning reality series “The Story Trek” plans to film a new episode across Southwest Colorado starting this week.
BYUtv officials recently announced they plan to film an unplanned and completely unscripted episode of the show over a four-day period in Durango, Cortez and Dove Creek starting March 22.
Creator and host Todd Hansen said filming the first person that agrees to be on television provides the show’s magic.
“Most people tell us they are boring,” Hansen said. “But I’ve found that every life is fascinating, and every individual is worth getting to know if they’re open to it.”
The production team’s journey starts with only a general idea of where filming will occur, and they have no idea who will be featured in the show. A former reporter for KSTU-TV in Salt Lake City, Hansen said the show works well because everybody has an interesting story to tell.
“We meet people from all walks of life, and we meet them right where they are,” Hanson said. “No matter where the story begins, it almost always comes around to something positive.”
Producers said crews would film in Cortez for one day only on Tuesday, March 25.
“The Story Trek” is broadcast to more than 50 million homes across the United States on BYUtv. The show is also streamed at www.byutv.com.
