1:25 p.m. An officer in the 100 block of West Main Street arrested a woman for driving an automobile on a suspended license.
2:13 p.m. An officer served a warrant to a man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 700 block of E. Driscoll St.
2:45 p.m. An officer recovered a working generator found in a ditch in the 600 block of E. Fourth St.
3:26 p.m. No citations were issued after a vehicle in the 1300 block of North Mildred Road backed up and hit the door of a Montezuma County bus.
8:03 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway, about a shoplifting report. A woman was suspected of shoplifting nail care products. Using video surveillance, the officer recognized the suspect, and the store requested a trespass order to ban the woman from the store.
11:56 p.m. A man was cited for trespassing after an officer found him sleeping in the Cortez Post Office, 35 S. Beech St.
Wednesday, May 29
12:14 a.m. A man was issued a warrant near the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., after a breath analysis issued a blood-alcohol reading of 0.305. The man was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.
10:05 a.m. An officer in the 800 block of N. Park St. pulled over a woman who was driving with a damaged windshield and no front license plate. She admitted she did not have a valid license and the car was not insured. Further, the car’s license place was registered to another vehicle, and a bag believed to contain meth was discovered under the front seat. She was arrested, then jailed at the Montezuma County Detention Center on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.
3:04 p.m. Keesee Motor Co. reported a Ford F-150 was severely damaged – slashed tires, broken windows cuts seats and broken center display. No leads were reported.
8:45 p.m. An officer pulled over a vehicle with New Mexico license plates in the 500 block of N. Elm St. after it stopped in the middle of a northbound lane where there was no posted stop signs or stop lights. The officer also witnessed a broken brake light on the vehicle. The female driver did not have a driver’s license and failed roadside sobriety maneuvers. The male passenger, who said he had been drinking, was allowed to leave, but was taken into custody after approaching an officer from behind several times. He and the woman were transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for medical clearance. The woman refused to take a breath analysis test, and the man’s test revealed a blood-alcohol content of 0.286. She was arrested on two warrants, and both were left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.
10:22 p.m. An officer served a warrant to a woman in at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Thursday, May 30
9:28 p.m. An officer responded to Wendy’s, 221 E. Main St., about a man who was yelling at employees and failing to leave. Police arrested him on the outstanding warrant and took him to the Montezuma County Detention Center.
Friday, May 31
2:24 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a fight in the produce section. A surveillance video failed to show who started the fight. One man was issued a summons for disorderly conduct. The other man was transported to Montezuma County Detention Center on a federal warrant from Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The man also was cited with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
5:21 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant at City Park, 15 N. Park St.
Saturday, June 1
12:16 a.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply in the 700 block of E. Main Street.
10:45 a.m. A man reported his bicycle had been stolen at the Travelodge motel, 1120 E. Main St. Surveillance video showed two subjects arriving in a Ford F-150 with Colorado license plates, and one man loading the bicycle into the pickup. The video was recorded as evidence.
