Wednesday, Dec. 26
7:46 a.m.: A snowplow collided with a parked vehicle on the 800 block of E. Third St.
9:04 a.m.: A man in custody in a holding cell at Montezuma County Combined Courts, at 865 N. Park S., was served a warrant for his arrest.
10:24 a.m.: Two vehicles sustained minor damage in a collision on the 300 block of E. Main St. A vehicle in the outside lane attempted to merge to the inside lane and contacted the other vehicle’s front bumper.
3:55 p.m.: A vehicle failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection of E. Third St. and S. Maple St. and collided with the front driver’s side of another vehicle, causing moderate damage to both and no injuries.
8:55 p.m.: A man was arrested at Walmart, at 1835 E. Main St., for domestic violence and third-degree assault. Witnesses say they saw the man dragging his wife of 9 years down an aisle at Walmart and then he punched her in the face with a closed fist. An officers observed bruising and swelling on her left cheek.
9:02 p.m.: A man reported a hit-and-run on his Ford F-150 pickup parked on the 100 block of W. Main St. The pickup’s mirror was bent forward. There were no suspects or leads.
Thursday, Dec. 27
2:17 a.m.: A man crashed a vehicle on the 900 block of E. Seventh St. The driver was intoxicated, did not have a driver license, spoke Spanish as a first language and mentioned his immigration status several times. He was arrested on charges of DUI and reckless driving.
4:32 a.m.: A vehicle collided with a flashing pedestrian sign at the intersection of Stratton Dr. and S. Broadway.
10:38 p.m.: Several intoxicated men were causing problems in the alley outside of the Bridge Emergency Shelter, at 24 N. Chestnut. One of the men had fresh blood on his face, and there were several bottles of alcohol in the area. A second man was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, open container and resisting arrest.
11:50 p.m.: A man driving an Audi with expired license plates registered to a Toyota station wagon on the 10 block of S. Ash St. was issued a summons for displaying expired plates, displaying fictitious plates, driving without insurance and driving without a license. He provided a title showing he purchased the Audi from Cortez Cash Pawn and Trade.
Friday, Dec. 28
10:05 a.m.: The driver of a Chevrolet Cruze collided with a Chevrolet Silverado while attempting to turn into Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. Damage was minimal, no citations were issues and neither driver requested an accident report.
11:32 a.m.: A man reported an accident at the intersection of Harrison St. and Main St. He said a white car slid through the red light and collided with the left rear wheel of his Jeep. There are no leads or suspects. The roads were icy and slick at the time of the collision.
12:12 p.m.: A traffic accident occurred in the Walmart parking lot, at 1835 E. Main St. A driver could not stop her vehicle in time before hitting another vehicle. No citations were issued.
6:57 p.m.: An intoxicated man was sitting on a toilet at City Market, a 508 E. Main St., with the door open. He was arrested for trespass.
8:37 p.m.: A man was issued a summons for DUI alcohol for driving a blue Chevrolet pickup on the 10 block of S. Linden St. He was very cooperative and apologetic and was released to a friend.
11:13 p.m.: A man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant at Oak Meadows Mobile Home Park, at 405 W. Seventh St.
Saturday, Dec. 29
2:20 a.m.: A man reported a hit-and-run on light pole in the Safeway parking lot, at 1580 E. Main St. He said a white flatbed pickup was doing donuts in the parking lot and collided with a light pole in the parking lot, knocking it to the ground. The vehicle was not located.
3:44 p.m.: A man was issued a summons for shoplifting at Walmart, at 1835 E. Main St. He attempted to exit the store while wearing a jacket and sunglasses that he did not pay for.
8:55 p.m.: A man driving with a defective headlight on 300 block of W. Third St. did not immediately stop when a patrol officer activated emergency lights. The driver stopped after about two blocks. The driver was cited for failure to stop when signaled by police and driving without insurance.
9:21 p.m.: A man seeking entrance to the Bridge Emergency Shelter, at 24 N. Chestnut St., was arrested on a warrant.
Monday, Dec. 31
3:19 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at the Cortez Welcome Center, at 928 E. Main St.
7:22 p.m.: An intoxicated woman was causing a disturbance at the Bridge Emergency Shelter, at 24 N. Chestnut St. She had a protection order stating she may not consume alcohol. She was arrested and was combative during the drive to the Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.
7:47 p.m.: Three vehicles were involved in an accident on the 1400 block of S. Broadway. One vehicle collided with another after sliding on ice. That vehicle was pushed into a third vehicle.
9:53 p.m.: An intoxicated man sleeping on a bench at Montezuma Park, at 15 W. Montezuma Ave., was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault for elbowing an EMT who was attempting to provide medical care. When the EMT attempted to lift the man, his arm tensed up and he struck the EMT’s radio, which jammed into her ribs, possibly breaking a rib.
Tuesday, Jan. 1
9:13 a.m.: Two men were arrested for trespassing at City Market, at 508 E. Main St. The two men were both trespassed indefinitely from City Market in 2014. They were both intoxicated in the parking lot and one of the men was unable to stand or sign his name. One of the men said he was just trying to stay warm.
3:53 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant outside of City Market, at 508 E. Main St. While driving to Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St., the man had spit multiple times on the vehicle cage and on equipment in the back of the patrol vehicle.
4:17 p.m.: An intoxicated man refused to leave City Market, at 508 E. Main St., as requested by a City Market employee. Two officers helped the man to his feet toward the exit of the store, but he still refused to leave. He was arrested for trespass and taken to Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.
Wednesday, Jan. 2
12:04 a.m.: A man driving on the 600 block of E. Seventh St. stopped at an unusual distance away from a red light. An officer pulled up behind the driver, who quickly signaled and turned left when the light turned green. The officer activated her emergency light to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, who was wearing sunglasses even though it was late at night, was arrested on two active warrants.
