It has been brought to my attention that there was an inaccuracy in my most recent column.
I stated that three 2018 RE-1 graduates received Boettcher Scholarships. In fact, those students were Daniels Scholars recipients.
Daniels scholarships are four-year renewable scholarships available to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree living in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming, “who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and a commitment to serving their community.”
Daniels scholarships cover tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and any other miscellaneous educational expenses. Recipients must be of “strong character, have leadership potential, show a commitment to serving their communities, demonstrate academic performance or promise, and have well-rounded personalities.”
The three MCHS seniors who received these scholarships have the opportunity to get a four-year education without coming out of college with crippling debt.
My apologies for the inaccuracy.
