The retail windows at the Cortez Post Office, and many post offices in Colorado, will close early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Those needing to mail items or purchase stamps at the retail counters will need to do so before noon on these two days. However, if customers need to pick up a parcel, they may still do so until 5 p.m. by ringing the buzzer in the post office lobby. Regular mail delivery will remain unaffected.
Mail will also be delivered as normal on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Revised hours will be posted at each affected office. Customers may also call 1-800-ASK-USPS to get the specific hours for their location.
Outgoing mail in blue collection boxes outside and across the street from the post office should be deposited before 5 p.m. Regular pick-up times of 3 p.m. apply for other blue collection boxes around Cortez.
All post offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1. Express Mail only will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. All post offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume on Wednesday, Dec. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 2.
