Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County held its annual meeting on Nov. 15 at the First National Bank of Cortez. Elaine Bridges from Osprey Packs presented the affiliate with a check for $2,575, representing a portion of the proceeds from Osprey's recently held Locals' Sale. She said the sale was a great success, and this donation is one way that Osprey "gives back" to the community. These funds will be used for new and ongoing Habitat programs.
Attendees got a recap of the projects Habitat completed this year and a preview of new programs for next year. The local organization completed six "A Brush with Kindness" projects in which volunteers helped local homeowners needing assistance to spruce up the exteriors of their homes. Detailed information on these projects can be found on Habitat's website (http://habitatmontezuma.org/). President Gary Harding also shared plans to open a resale store in the future, specializing in building supplies and furniture. An resale outlet would provide sustainable income for Habitat, allowing the affiliate to take on larger local projects.
