Youths ages 8 to 13 encouraged to compete
The Cortez Elks Lodge will host a Hoop Shoot competition at the Cortez Recreation Center on Sunday, Nov. 12. Free registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the contest, at 9 a.m.
The contest will be divided into three age divisions, 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13, with a separate boys and girls classification for each age group.
The Elks Hoop Shoot will send the six winners to a district contest to compete with winners from other lodge competitions. The national finals are in April.
