‘Glad to hear of improvements for disabled’

I was very glad to hear of the upcoming improvements in Durango for those of us who are disabled. We started coming to Durango in the Fall of 2002 as our daughter was attending Fort Lewis College. We have gone to Durango several times a year since then, especially as we retired to Farmington.

I started using a walker in 2018 and have been in a wheelchair since 2020. I know that I can go to certain restaurants that are wheelchair accessible, but there are others that are not (The Irish Embassy was one). I am stressed being pushed on the sidewalks and there are stores that are difficult to access.

A comment was made that there aren’t many wheelchair users (as if we aren’t important). We have spent a lot of money in Durango and will in the future. I am glad that Durango recognizes that this is a vital issue that is now being addressed.
